Our Tweed on Beautiful Chairs
Our Homer exclusive tweeds are now in and looking good! We've upholstered chairs, sofas and stools. Made with 100 % wool from Cheviot sheep in the Scottish Borders, designed in-house and woven at our local tweed-mill, just minutes from our Aberfeldy shop ... so very proudly Scottish.
In keeping with the tradition of estate-tweed design, the landscape was our starting point. Our first tweed, Lincroft, uses yarns in teal, soft green, and a fleck of saffron - inspired by a visit to the North West coast. We have now added another, Farragon, a softly-speckled blue herringbone tweed. Then, now on the loom and due in store mid-December, a richly-coloured red, burnt sienna and soft salmony pink herringbone - name yet to be decided!
Meet the designer...
Lorna, our young designer, studied textiles at college and has worked with tweed ever since. Now, as part of our Homer team, she brings her creativity and know-how, to help us widen Homer's range of exclusive, Scottish textiles.
The design process, choosing colour ways...
Our fabric being woven on Glen Lyon Tweedmill's faithful old looms!
We have chairs, sofas and footstools upholstered in our exclusive tweeds and you can (sometimes) buy by the metre.
The chairs sell at £495, the sofas at £750. Our local tweed mill weaves two bolts (sixty metres) of each design/colourway. Therefore, each range is a limited run.
